While it’s true that no one can completely stop the natural aging process, it is possible to slow the hands of time. At Graper Harper Cosmetic Surgery, our team of facial rejuvenation experts have years of collective experience treating patients who wish to restore a youthful, yet natural-looking appearance through both surgical and non-surgical means, including Botox. Botox is a safe and FDA-approved injectable treatment that eliminates facial lines and wrinkles, giving the facial appearance a youthful boost. Thousands of patients have achieved successful results with this minimally invasive treatment. We invite you to learn more about Botox and how Graper Harper Cosmetic Surgery can help you turn back the clock with one Botox session.

About Botox

Botox consists of a protein derived from highly diluted botulism toxin, which works to temporarily freeze or relax the facial muscles. The injection solution blocks the muscular nerve signals, weakening the muscles so they cannot contract. This in turn smooths out the wrinkles and lines on the overlying skin. The result is a smoother and younger-looking appearance.

The amount of Botox needed to achieve the best result will depend on the severity of your wrinkles and your desired outcome. Our team of experts can evaluate your facial anatomy and skin to recommend an appropriate dosage of Botox that achieves the most effective yet natural-looking results.

Botox Candidacy

You may be an ideal candidate for Botox if you are in good overall health and have one or more of the following concerns:

  • Moderate to severe wrinkles, creases or lines on your face
  • Vertical lip lines
  • Squint lines between your eyes
  • Frown lines
  • Wrinkles around the outer eye area (i.e., crow’s feet)
  • Skin bands on the neck
  • Are in good overall health

Botox can also be a good option for those who are not ready for surgical intervention; or, conversely, who want to prolong the effects of a surgical procedure (e.g., facelift, eyelid surgery).

Procedure Details

Botox can be completed in our state-of-the-art Charlotte facility in a few minutes. To begin, one of our specialists will apply a topical anesthetic to the treatment area. They will then use a tiny needle to inject the Botox solution; each treated muscle will receive several injections. The injections do not hurt, thanks to the topical anesthesia, but some patients experience mild pressure in the treatment area. This is only temporary and should subside quickly. Results from Botox can be seen in less than a week.

Recovering from Botox

Downtime from Botox is minimal as patients can resume their normal activities immediately after treatment. Strenuous activity such as exercising should be avoided for 24 hours. After treatment, patients may experience slight discomfort, swelling and redness in the treatment area. This is only temporary and should dissipate within a few days.

Repeat treatments are essential to maintaining your younger-looking appearance. Results from one Botox session typically last three to six months depending on age, skin condition and lifestyle habits such as sun care and smoking. Our experienced team can discuss a routine schedule for you upon evaluating your initial results.
