Cellfine Procedure in Charlotte

Cellfina Overview Treatment

Cellfina is the only FDA-Cleared minimally invasive, one-time procedure clinically proven to improve the appearance of cellulite for at least two years – the longest FDA cleared duration for a cellulite treatment.

The Cellfina System treats the primary structural cause of cellulite – the connective bands woven throughout fat in the thighs and buttocks. These tight bands pull down the skin, creating the puckering you see on the surface of the skin. Similar to a rubber band under tension, once released, the treated skin bounces back to smooth itself out. Cellulite can be thought of as a mattress with dimples. The dimples in the mattress are caused by fabric anchoring the mattress surface to the bed frame. In a similar fashion cellulite is fibrous tissue pulling down or anchoring the skin to the underlying muscle. Cellulite is worse when the fibrous band is short or the fat is excessive.

Results can be seen in as little as three days. Cellfina is a one-time minimally invasive procedure offered at Graper Cosmetic Surgery that is done with sedation by mouth and local anesthesia and takes approximately 45 minutes.  There is limited downtime.  Some patients experience initial soreness and tenderness, but are able to return to work the next day. Walking is fine immediately and any exercise at three weeks. Initial bruising and swelling resolves in the first three weeks and the final results at three months. Results have been stable past two years in the FDA trials.

FAQ’S About Cellfina

What is the procedure like?

After the patient is relaxed with a valium we move to the procedure suite where we prepare the treatment area with sterile solutions. After we inject local anesthesia, the bands are cut through a puncture in the skin. The incisions are so small that no sutures are required. Sterile dressings including a compression garment are put in place and the patient goes home.

Who are good candidates for Cellfina?

Patients with cellulite to their thighs and buttock respond well to Cellfina.

What is the typical recovery time?

There can be swelling and bruising for several days but most people are back at office type work places in 1-2 days.

What are the risks associated with the procedure?

The biggest risk is that the dimples in the skin are from loose skin and not cellulite. Loose skin should be treated by a skin tightening procedure and would not be improved with Cellfina. Infection should be very rare.

How much does Cellfina cost?

Treatment of the thighs and buttock is $3500. For minor or isolated areas the cost is $2500.
