Why should I consider lip augmentation?
Full lips are one of the many signs of youth and vitality. All one has to do to recognize this fact is to visualize the difference between the lips of a 20-year-old versus the lips of a 70-year-old. The change is one that occurs throughout the whole body and is that of decreasing blood vessels and collagen, which provide bulk.
What are my lip augmentation options?
There are several ways to enlarge lips. The most common, yet temporary solution is to inject a hyaluronic acid such as Juvederm or Restylane. This is a 30 minute treatment, in which you see your immediate result, with no down time. We start with a topical numbing cream or for more complete anesthesia a dental block to numb the lips, so the treatment involves little to no pain.
The surgical options for lip augmentation are to use either one's own body tissues, like fat or dermis, or use a synthetic implant such as PermaLip. Each method has advantages and disadvantages. See more information regarding lip augmentation in Charlotte under the Photos and Procedures section of website.
Who are good candidates for lip augmentation?
Patients with small, unsatisfactory or disproportionate lips who are physically and emotionally healthy, have realistic expectations about the results of the procedure, and understand the risks and benefits of the procedure are ideal candidates for a lip augmentation procedure.
What is the typical recovery time?
With Juvederm or Restylane injections, there is very little to no down time.
With surgical lip augmentation, everyone is swollen after the procedure, but this resolves over the next several weeks. Most people take a few days off work, and expect not to be perfect when they return to work. Lipstick may be worn approximately five days after the cosmetic surgery. The lips are initially numb due to the swelling. This resolves quickly as the swelling goes down.
What are the risks associated with the procedure?
Unlikely complications include but are not limited to infection, bleeding, over correction, under correction and need for revision.
How much does lip augmentation cost?
The cost of the procedure depends on many variables, so it is not possible to give a price without a personal consultation. Associated costs may include the price of the procedure, operating room costs and anesthesia fees. Please contact us for a personal consultation.
